Worrying is like experiencing the feeling of failure in advance. The impact is compounded when failure isn't even guaranteed but we make it feel real.
When we start to feel worry creeping in we have to make a choice. The first option is to let it develop and grow into anxiety. The second choice we have is to recognize the worry and decide to take action to address the actual cause of the worry.
It comes down to deciding whether to amplify the state of anticipating negative events or to make a plan to approach the situation more clearly and influence it in a positive way.
It takes practice but with time and effort we can get better at turning the initial waves of worry into productive action.
